Add a Halloween spin to learning Circle of Fifths
Supplies:
- Pie box template (download here)
- 2 large black poster boards (enough to create 12 pie boxes)
- Glue or tape
- Metallic markers
- Treats/prizes
Optional:
- Extra poster board
- Cotton
- Halloween-themed stickers
Directions:
- Use the pie box template to make 12 pie boxes with the black poster boards
- Draw 5-staff webs on each pie
- Draw the key signatures
Note: because there is not a lot of room, I simply wrote the subsequent accidental on each pie, rather than rewriting all the sharps and flats of each key - Label the relative major and minor keys on the side
- Continue to decorate as you wish (e.g. with Halloween-themed stickers)
- Put treats/prizes inside the pie boxes
Optional: use an extra poster board as a support for the pie boxes and decorate the background with cotton “webs”
How to use:
Ask students to identify the key signatures in order to get the treats/prizes or create your own game
Comments:
Each pie box has enough room to fit plenty of treats/prizes
